I do Parelli and I love it, but I was just wondering how many people here use it, if you do practice Natural horsemanship what program do you use?

what are some horse back riding games i could use in a lesson?

I nt to give my brother and sister horse back riding lessons. I am looking for some games that help them to keep their heels down and to keep their back up and to help them on their transitoions.can u please help i want to take them to shows but they need to learn how to ride soon.If you do leave a comment, can you please label what the game would help eather sitting up straight,keeping heels down, or transitions.
PLEASE HELP
i also want it to be more fun

if you had more then just 2 people you are teaching musical chairs is really fun. you can set chairs at each end of a field and stuff. unless your horse is trainer or just lazy alot of horses spook so you cant swing or throw or make loud noises. i do not know lol see who can spin around the fastest.

How to convince my parents I don’t want horse back riding lessons?

It sounds amazing… but my dad is really stressed with work and bills and money and other adult things. So not the best time. At all. I was just bored not going to school on campus and was jealous that my brothers got all the sports and instruments and other school activites, so I wanted to do some sort of activity too. But really my dad is already stressed with enough things… so how do I make them believe I’m just not interested in it anymore?

If things were really bad, they’d probably tell you. If they’re like most parents, they know that horseback riding lessons aren’t necessary for your survival, and they won’t pay for it if they can’t. The fact that they’re willing to do it–even though it may be tough right now–shows that they care about you and want you to do something you enjoy. Let them! Yes, talk to them and tell them that you understand if they can’t (essentially, give them an "out"), but show your appreciation for their willingness to do so.

Also, I agree with Julie–why not help pay for it? Either get a job and pay for it directly, or offer to help around the house more (babysitting your brothers if they’re young, chores/odd jobs, etc.) to relieve some of the burden on them. But it makes complete sense that you would want–and need–some sort of physical activity and outlet if you aren’t able to be involved in other activities (I assume you’re homeschooled?). If you want to be around horses but the lessons themselves are too expensive, see if you can just volunteer at a barn–maybe even in exchange for a lesson occasionally. You’ll be occupied rather than bored, you’ll enjoy the horses, and you’ll save your parents money.

Are there any places in Saint Louis, MO to go horseback riding if you don’t own a horse?

I live in Saint Louis, MO and don’t know of any place to go horseback riding where you can "rent" a horse and go horseback riding EXCEPT for Marquette State Park.
Any suggestions?? Thanks.

Riding And Grooming Tips?

Im going to my ridding lesson on monday (my birthday!) I groom for 15 minutes then ride for 1 hour. So give me some grooming and riding tips =)

Use the rubber curry comb first and don’t be afraid to brush hard with the rubber curry comb go in circles and do it hard (they love it).

Then use a hard brush (brush in the direction of the fur.To tell it’s a hard brush feel the bristels and if they feel hard then it’s a hard brush)

Then use a soft brush on the body and face it’s like a hard brush but when you feel the bristels they feel soft.

When riding keep your back strait and never let your guard down even if your just siting there.What type of saddle do you ride in (its funny because I have lessons on Monday)

Don’t be nervous horses can sense your feelings.but still try not to be nervous.

How can I become a more confident horse rider?

I don’t own a horse for starters and I began riding at Faughanvale last year. I was really happy to ride horses when I started but now I am even scared if the horse moves out from the wall by a noise in a private lesson. I’m going to give up now if I can’t do anything about it because I can’t even canter and only trot jumps that are 2ft. I have been riding for a year now but only get lessons every 1mth – 2mths.

How can I ride horses for a living?

I live in the city, and there are no horse riding places close by. I really want to ride as a stockman (or woman) in the country when I’m older but I have no idea how I could accomplish that. Please help me. I hate the city, but I can’t leave.

you could offer to ride horses while there owners are away is a good way to start off

Does anyone have anything negative to say about Parelli natural horsemanship?…?

I’ve heard lots of great things about this method of training, and I’m very interested to join the savvy club, but is it really as great as it appears to be? (I have trained in other ‘Natural’ horsemanship methods and found some of them to be dogmatic and downright abusive to the horse)…

The only draw back I’ve seen is people who only grasp half the concept and let their horses walk all over them, sometimes literally. As long as you realize it’s not about sweet talking them into every thing but communicating in a fashion they can understand it’s a great program. Good luck if you try it.
