WHATS THE CORRECT WAY TO FALL OFF A HORSE?

ok well today was my 5th riding lesson + i was ridding misty the school mare and all of a sudden she gallopped off around the area + did this little jumping thing where her front hooves came off the ground and she waved them around in the air…i fell off onto my bum. my back hurts 2nite, next time i fall off, how should i do it? my instructor was relly angry at me becuz i fell off…how can i not fall off?

First of all, your instructor shouldn’t be angry if that’s how your horse behaved and it was only your 5th lesson, so shame on her for getting mad at you. It wasn’t your fault. Please don’t get discouraged by her actions!

If you don’t mind, I’m going to first suggest some things you can do while ON your mare to prevent you from getting in a position where you will fall off.

1. All horses have an "emergency stop". what to do: Slide your hand (I use my right but either will work) as far as you can down the rein towards her face and pull it towards you. This will cause her to run in a tight little circle and it will prevent her from being able to buck or rear because your horse will be bent around your leg. It will also get her attention and stop her from interrupting everyone else in your lesson.

2. When you’re at home and have nothing better to do, flex your calves to strengthen the muscles. How I do this: I stand on the bottom stair with just my toes and let me heels fall, then push up as hard as I can so I am standing on my tiptoes, and hold for 5 seconds. Then I let my heels drop again, and repeat. 3 sets of 10 reps is a good place to start. This will strengthen your legs and give you the power to hold on with your legs when your horse goofs off.

Now… how to prevent from falling…

3. When she goes up into the air, lean forward to keep your centre of balance over your hips. You can grab her mane to hold on (or, her neck) as well.

4. Learn how to roll your hips right under your butt so you’re sitting truly on your butt… your horse will be able to feel this shift in weight and may respond to it by slowing down.

Finally, when falling off… try to get your feet out from under you so you land on your feet… this prevents your putt from hurting.

Just remember, EVERYONE, even Beezie Madden and Ian Millar, fall off sometimes. Falling off and making mistakes makes you human.

Riding And Grooming Tips?

Im going to my ridding lesson on monday (my birthday!) I groom for 15 minutes then ride for 1 hour. So give me some grooming and riding tips =)

Use the rubber curry comb first and don’t be afraid to brush hard with the rubber curry comb go in circles and do it hard (they love it).

Then use a hard brush (brush in the direction of the fur.To tell it’s a hard brush feel the bristels and if they feel hard then it’s a hard brush)

Then use a soft brush on the body and face it’s like a hard brush but when you feel the bristels they feel soft.

When riding keep your back strait and never let your guard down even if your just siting there.What type of saddle do you ride in (its funny because I have lessons on Monday)

Don’t be nervous horses can sense your feelings.but still try not to be nervous.

if these are the questions you’re asking I think you’re missing the bigger picture.
I saw ATL’s production about 4 years ago. these are all really minor details. the play is more about a teetering connection to the past as modernity is creeping in.

(this kinda answers all of your questions, except 3)

which should i ride western or english?

im going to start horseback ridding lessons. But im not sure which too ride western or english? which one is easier in your opinion?

its all about your selection. western is more of a calmer and non-challenging .. most western riders do trails easily as to jumps aren’t.. western riders dont jump because its harder to in their saddle.. i ride english and from my prospective western is easier to ride and for events like shows. english is a bit more intense and you get the privledge of jumping!! in cost wise i think their about the same! but its all up to you!

I have just started horse ridding lessons
and learning how to care for horses
Well I was just wondering if there are any horse stables in Graffenvier, Germany
Because I’m going to be moving there.

Can any one give any information on any Horse stables close to there
