Can elocution lessons help me get rid of my accent when i speak english?

Tuesday Mar 9, 2010

I came to Canada when I was 10 and now im 15. People tell me i have a light accent, can elocution lessons help me get rid of my accent completely?

I think accents are wonderful. People are more likely to notice and remember you if you have an accent. If it is only a light one, then I wouldn’t worry about being misunderstood. Be proud of who you are, where you come from and where you are going. There is nothing wrong with standing out a little in a crowd.

What level of ridding am I?

Tuesday Mar 2, 2010

I have been ridding for 8 years
I show and compete first level dressage
I show and compete in jumping up to 3′ feet
I have taught lessons
I ride western sometimes in fun shows
I start young horses from ground work to under saddle
I trail ride

I also own 2 horses
I ride every day and ride around 3 horses per day.

What everyone forgets or doesn’t realize is that there are two parts to being a good rider. The first is certain skills you have achieved such as walk/trot/canter or jumping. This is where seeing a video might come in handy for you just telling us means nothing.
The second part is your understanding. You need to understand what happened why it happened and how you are going to fix it. If you can’t do that for every moment of you rider on every horse then you are still a beginner. If you know exercises and ways to fix your mistakes then you are probably doing ok.
. A good rider needs to understand what is going on according to the training pyramid in order to get the best results.

I feel really guilty What should i do?

Tuesday Feb 23, 2010

Hi everybody
I have a horse who is not very trained. So Ive been taking ridding lessons in this other horse that is really close by( I can ride my bike there) and I haven’t seen my horse for a really long time and I haven’t rode her for like 4 months and Im starting to feel really guilty because I ride this other horse 1 a week. I ddon’t always get to see my horse that often and im starting to miss her al ot
What should I do?

Visit her. Groom/lunge her. Bond with her. Just spend time sitting next to your horse and have her enjoy your company. Tell her your secrets etc. Don’t feel guilty about riding another horse. It’s just more experience and education for you in the long run so when you do ride your horse you’ll be better suited with her and ready to communicate properly.
