im bringing my horse to riding camp and i was just wandering what stuff should i bring to camp like how many shirts, pants ect. should i bring my saddle and bridal (well i know i have to bring my bridal) but what other stuff shauld i bring ?
You should call the camp or email them if possible. All camps are different, and only they will be able to tell you exactly all the things you will be required to bring.
If you call them, make sure you write down everything they tell you to bring. If you are unsure, ask them questions, only they will be able to tell you for sure.
Here is a list of things you defanitly should bring:
YOUR STUFF~
- proper riding pants (or jeans) [you should bring a few pairs just for riding]
- riding boots
- regular boots you can get dirty in the barn for when your not riding
- everyday clothes/outfits [depending on how long you're staying at the camp]
-all the necesitites you need for hygene, etc.
HORSE STUFF~
- saddle/bridle/polo wraps/etc….whatever you use on your horse
- grooming kit [I'm sure the camp will have some, but you don't want to use other horses' brushes because you don't know if they have some kind of infection]
- any other stuff you use on your horse [shampoo, flyspray (if it's hot where you are going), tack cleaning, etc.]
*NOTE: Take the things you use on an everyday basis and don't be afraid to bring an extra halter/leadrope just incase.
Have fun at camp and don't forget to contact the camp to double-check that you have everything you need!
I've never taken Horseback Riding Lessons Guide Amazon.com’;return true;” onmouseout=”self.status=””>horseback riding lessons so I've learned to ride through many trail rides. I don't really know how to balance right without holding onto the horn while the horse is in a trot or lope. Is there any tips you'd recommend so I can ride with both hands on the reins? I'm going horseback riding this Thursday so hopefully I can try them out.
you definitely need to be able to ride without holding onto the horse, use your legs, squeeze them against the horse at your knee to grip the horse, just don't squeeze too hard as this can sometimes make the horse go faster, you just need to practice without the horn, when i am helping someone learn to ride that doesn't know how, i do not let them hold the horn, when you learn to balance by holding the horn, you are enabling yourself, if you absolutely need to grab the horn to regain balance than go for it, but try to ride as much of your ride without using the horn
Where is a great place that offers Lessons to kids and is cheap? It has to be in Maple Plain MN, Delano MN, Loretto MN, Buffalo MN or anywhere close to there. Help Please!

I have known these people for over 25 years, best place around, there are a lot of others too, look in yellow pages under horse boarding……I dont give lessons and surely not cheap ones and neither does JO. I would never go the cheap route…as the saying goes you get what you pay for. Good luck

here is ox yoke too I know natelie very well and went to school with her husband phil….another good and reputable place
Ok, i love riding horses but i hate saddling a horse up. Is it safe to ride just bare back with a bridle or is it safer to ride with just a sadle blanket and a bridle?
I have rid bare back people! It doesnt hurt me. I rid a underweight horse once with his spine sticking out.. OK it doesnt hurt to me!!!! I just want to know if its safe
Why are you bragging about riding an underweight horse who had his spine sticking out? That's sick.
It's safe if you're a good rider and your horse is well-behaved.
